Obituary of William (Bill) Stoddart Smith

Passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday October 14, 2023 at the age of 97 surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Cherished and beloved husband to Doris Smith. Loving father of Marie Smith (Dan) and Andrew Smith. Proud grandfather of Danielle Thomson (James), Nicole Smith (Chuck), Noah Smith Cooper, great-grandfather to Lorelai.

Bill spent his days devoted to Doris, and never forgot about his roots- supporting his beloved football team Liverpool. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bill. He will be remembered by his family for his love of model trains and visiting yearly train shows with his closest friends. Bill’s many friends at Tim Hortons on Centennial Parkway will miss his boisterous laugh and jokes during his daily visits. As his beloved football team sings, “You will never walk alone, Bill”.

Special thanks to the nurses and the PSWs for their compassionate care. As per Bill’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Those who would like to honour him with a memorial contribution are asked to contribute to the Cancer Society.
