Obituary of Helen Katharine Hore

June 10, 1922 ~ October 14, 2023

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Helen Katharine Hore in her 102nd year.  Daughter of the late Frank and Muriel Piott.  Loving wife of Norman Cecil Hore (predeceased).  Devoted mother to Brenda King, (Robert predeceased), Marilyn Kaulback (Brent), Lorraine Brown (Barry), Janet Baigent (Nigel). Loving grandmother to Sarah Tucci (Dan), Rory King (Stephanie), Shailah Gulyas (Andrew), Ashley Kaulback, Tristan Kaulback, Jacob Brown (Camilla) Nathan Brown (Kristen) Emily Brown (Naseem), Hannah Brown (Adam), Tyler Baigent (Cara), and Myles Baigent (Mandie).  Proud Gigi of Noah, Sophie, Grayson, Fiona, Isabella, Lorelai, Genevieve (predeceased) Eloise, Kevin, Ella, Finn, Abby, Zachary, Braylyn, Boden, Finnley and Gavin.   Predeceased by sisters Phyllis Jenkins, Ruby Corman and brother Samuel Piott. She will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Ruth and many nieces and nephews. 

Helen was born in Saltfleet township and spent her childhood on a fruit farm on Barton Street.  She attended R.L Hyslop Elementary School and Saltfleet High School.  Helen was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker and enjoyed summers spent at the family cottage on Wood Lake.  Helen was a lifelong resident of Stoney Creek where she was an active member of the Stoney Creek United Church and UCW.  Throughout her life Helen organized and participated in many local charities including the Canadian Cancer Society and the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice.  In 2000 she was awarded the Stoney Creek Citizen of the Year for her work within the community. Our sincere appreciation for the kind and compassionate care provided by all the staff at Deer Park Villa.  Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Wednesday, October 25th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m.  Interment to follow at Mountview Gardens Cemetery, 735 Highway #8, Stoney Creek.
