Obituary of Wanda Mary Jess

January 14, 1932 - July 28, 2023

Peacefully passed at Amica, Stoney Creek at the age of 91.

Wanda is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Truman Robert Jess (1999), and by their son, Stephen Robert Jess (2018), her mother, Eileen Oakley, and siblings, Elizabeth Collins and Lawrence Oakley.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Carolyn and her husband Alvin Ross and his daughter Erin Ross (Jay Handel) of Burlington, her three grandchildren, Laurie Parsons (Adam) of Toronto, Andrew Ross (Yael) of Etobicoke, and Nathan Jess (Kylie Maheu) of Sydenham; and her five great grandchildren, William, Sienna, Madelyn, Noah and Savanna.

Wanda had many fond memories of raising her children and helping Truman with the family business in Stoney Creek; summers at the cottage on Sparrow Lake and winters in Jensen Beach with fellow “Creekers.”

She will be remembered for her sense of humour and spunky character.

The family would like to thank the staff from Right at Home, especially Janice, who became her dear friend not just a companion; and her special neighbors on Leslie Drive, who together made it possible for Wanda to live at home for many extended years.

Cremation has taken place. At Wanda’s request, a private family service will be held with interment at Mountview Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
