Obituary of William Mitchell Paterson

Peacefully, on the morning of July 17, 2023 a week after his 95th birthday, William (Bill) Mitchell Paterson, was welcomed into the presence of his Lord and Saviour whom he served faithfully all his life. Bill was born in Glasgow, Scotland, moved to Canada in 1947 where he met his lovely wife Margaret. Together they served as missionaries in South Africa for 34 years, a country they loved deeply. Bill and Marg returned to Canada in 1998 and happily returned to ministry with Philpott Memorial Church, where Bill served as part-time Pastor of Visitation. 

Bill will be dearly missed by his children, Ian (Rong) and Pauline (Allan). Bill was a fun and adventurous grandpa, and his three granddaughters, Leigh, Abby, and Ashley remember the great times they had at sleepovers, going to Philpott on Sunday mornings and the big candy bowl that was passed around at each birthday.  We will miss our quick-witted joker who believed there can never be too many sugars in a cup of tea.

Bill’s Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Philpott Memorial Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to SIM Canada and Philpott Memorial Church would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
