Obituary of John Gordon Eagleson

John Eagleson passed away in his home in Stoney Creek, ON, on May 9, 2023, at the age of 71. John was born in Toronto on May 22, 1951, and grew up in his childhood home in Thornhill, ON. He started his career in the retail industry working for Maher Shoes. Starting as a sales representative he went on to become the Operations Manager and Buyer servicing over 200 locations. John branched out to start his own line of shoe stores called Next Step Shoes. He oversaw the expansion of the business from six locations to thirty-three with a retail sales volume of $13 million.

John’s passions were gardening, golf, motorcycles, and BBQing. John and Nadine maintained a spectacular garden at their home in Stoney Creek. For many years he was a member of Beverley Golf Club enjoying many rounds during his semi-retired years. John’s first vehicle was a Honda 150 motorcycle, and he renewed his love for riding in the last 20 years.

John is preceded by his parents, Gordon and Marion (Caffin) Eagleson, his sister Elaine and his first wife Diane (Magee). He was the loving father of Michael and Lesley (BJ Howell) and their children Jesse and Brayden. John leaves behind his wife Nadine (Ibbott), Amy (Mike), children Matt and Ben; Jim (Wendy), children Kayla and Lucas, and John and Nadine’s dog Lexy. He will also be missed by his siblings Joan Cox and Glen (Kimberly) Eagleson and by his six nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on June 4, 2023, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Cobourg Union Cemetery on June 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
