Obituary of Douglas Murray Bridges
May 13, 1947 - March 30, 2023
After an incredible, courageous 23 year battle in which your body just couldn't fight anymore!! Surrounded by his children with the presence of Doug's late wife, Dianne brought him to her, surrounding the room in a golden light. Predeceased by Doug's soul mate, best friend and loving wife of 53 years Marion Dianne Bridges (nee Bone) October 20, 2022. Just a mere 5 months and 10 days ago a love like this can never be separated for long. Predeceased by Doug's parents Ronald and Dorothy Bridges of Guelph, ON and In-Laws Gordon and Marion Bone of Hamilton, ON. Cherished and loved with all our hearts, father of Lisa and Sean Smith, Laura and John Elgersman. Proud Papa of Kyle, Hunter (2002) and Kieran Cushnie, Lunden and Avalee Elgersman. Devoted Father to Steven Bridges and Granddaughter Caitlynn Bridges. Brother to Donald and Gayle Bridges of Thunder Bay, ON, Merlyn Lovell and the late brother-in-law to Robert Lovell of Guelph, ON and Alan Bridges of Winnipeg, MB. A nephew and cousin to many within the Guelph community. Doug was an elementary school teacher with HWDSB celebrating 33 years in education. Doug will be remembered by so many with his kindness, humour and especially his Papa "jokes" model trains, wood working and being a pillar of knowledge, Doug's fur babies are missing him terribly especially, his treats!
