Obituary of Beverley (Bev) Lynne Miller
(nee Johnston)
Peacefully passed away at 80 years of age, surrounded by the love and presence of her family on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Amica Stoney Creek. She reunites with her husband of 42 years, the late Tom Miller (2020). Bev was born December 26, 1942 in Hamilton, Ontario to the late William “Bill” and Hazel Johnston. She is predeceased by her sister Susanne and survived by her brothers Michael (Kim) and Gary. Bev grew up and raised her family in Stoney Creek. She later moved to Beamsville but Stoney Creek always had her heart and was always her home. She was very proud of her 7 wonderful children, including (she was sure to let everyone know) 2 sets of twins; Tamara (Rod), Jamie (Elaina), Jodie (Dave), Shannon (Martin), Shawn, Mandy (Adam) and Jeremy (Jenny). Bev was a beloved Nanny to 10 grandchildren, Brennen, Justin (Sandra), Kendra (Joel), Coady (Stacey), Carly (Matt), Chelsea (Michael), Kalvin, Sonny, Gwendolyn, and Grace-Mabel, and a Great Nanny to Tilly, Myles, Poppy, Archer and one on the way. Bev was also a very much loved and cherished “Aunt Bev” to many nieces and nephews, creating special bonds with many of them over the years. Bev was a mother first and foremost but took on many different roles over the years. She was a devoted wife to Tom and a friend to many. She loved to talk and even brag about her family, but she was also a shoulder to lean on and a supportive listener. She had a love and adoration for dogs - spoiling and treating them like her children. She worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper at her daughter Mandy’s dance studio for many years where she always greeted the students and families with a smile and a chit chat. Bev loved to spend her days working outside and in her garden as well as keeping a beautiful home for her family. She loved listening to music (especially Elvis), collecting purses and shoes, reading and keeping up with the news and weather. Bev not only had a sweet soul but she had a sweet tooth...she loved her chocolate and sweet desserts! Her family will cherish and remember her dancing, singing and the frequent pointing of her finger! She had many faces and each one meant something special. Bev was a truly remarkable, strong and brave woman. She had a generous heart, a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. She loved to take care of others but wasn’t afraid to pamper herself either, she was a pillar to her family. Bev’s children would like to take this time to give special thanks, much gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Dragana, Joy and the truly amazing staff and nurses of Amica Stoney Creek and Bayshore for their around the clock care and assistance to our mother. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Sunday, January 29th from 2-5 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 30th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Stoney Creek. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Lincoln Humane Society or to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
