HARBER, Yvonne Hilary Elpie With profound sadness and endless love, the family of Yvonne Harber announces her passing at home after a long courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Leaving behind her husband, best friend and companion of 41 years, Don. Loving mother and mother-in-law to Carla and George Arsenault, Nikie and Randy Heinbecker. Greatly missed by the loves of her life, her grandchildren; George, Jacob, Erin, Owen and her angel up above, William. Loved daughter of Elpie Shields. Daughter-in-law of Alberta Harber. Cherished sister of Theano Mellon, Robert and Catherine Shields, and Bill Shields of B.C. Also, niece of Nell Jones. Forever remembered by her "once in a lifetime" best and longest friends Doreen and Bill, Judi and Mike, Suzy and Val, Joanne and Doug, Cheryl and Al. Dearest and special friend to Cathy and Keith. Also remembered by many nieces and nephew in B.C., N.B., and Florida. Yvonne was an amazing lady. She spent many years volunteering for Girl Guides, helping making mats for Haiti and knitting hats for preemies. She had a love of Knitting and Crafts (even though she never could cut and paste). Yvonne will live in our hearts forever and we will sadly miss the way her smile lights up a room every time that she walked in, but will know that she will always be with us. A very special thank you to Dr. Tuttle, Dr. Major, Velvet and all the nurses and staff at the Juravinski, Henderson and V.O.N. A celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenu Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
