Obituary of Larry Ross

With love and grief, we announce that Larry passed away in the early hours of October 8, 2022 surrounded by the love of his family.  He was 68.

Larry and Alison (Smart) were partners in life since the 9th grade and devoted to each other in marriage for 47 years.

He was a loving and proud Dad to Christine and her husband Mark Hodgson and Craig and his wife Nicole Ross.

Larry loved his granddaughters Grace, Lily and Nora beyond all measure and his greatest joy was found in being a doting and indulgent Papa.

He was a dear son to Bernice Ross and the late Donald Ross and a caring and supportive big brother to Shelley Nash (Mark), Rob Ross (Leanne) and Don Ross (Leslie).  Larry was also a nephew, an uncle, a cousin and a friend.

Larry did not spend the last 3 years battling cancer, he spent those years living with cancer; enthusiastically, courageously, honestly, never complaining about the many challenges he faced.  Instead, he looked forward to every new day with positivity and a sense of humour.

Some of his best days were spent towing his 5th wheel trailer north in the fall to his favourite parks; Pancake Bay, Sleeping Giant and especially Killbear site #17, hiking through the trails and along the beaches with Alison and his dog Keeva.

He was a lifelong supporter of the CFL and his beloved Hamilton Tiger-Cats and he had a love/hate relationship with the Maple Leafs.

Larry’s family would like to thank the entire staff at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for their care and compassion in the last week of his life. We are eternally grateful.

Visitation for family and friends at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home at 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 2 – 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated.

He will live in our hearts forever.
