Obituary of Lona Mildred Felker
(Nelson)
August 9, 1919 – October 5, 2022
The time has come to say goodbye to the heart and soul of our family, Lona in her 104th year.
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our family’s matriarch. We do this with great sorrow but also with deep gratitude for a life well lived and loved. Beloved wife of Edward Bentley Felker (1995), caring mother of Noreen, Ardith (2013) and son-in-law Jim Wildgoose. Proud Grandmother (Gramma) to Julie/Charlie Schafer, Jamie (2022)/Tami Wildgoose and Jodie/Philip Stuart and her precious Greats – Katarina, Vanessa, Alyssa, Bentley, Dylan, Liam and Gage.
Lona is predeceased by her siblings and in-laws Alice and Malcolm Smith, Clive and Beatrice Nelson, Beryl Behrens, Lily and Richard Swayze, Harold Nelson, Ruth and Harold Peace and Don Staples. Dear sister-in-law of Verna Staples and Yvette Nelson. She will be missed by several generations of Nelson and Felker nieces and nephews, and many friends of whom she was very fond.
Lona was a faithful, life member of the Church of Our Saviour the Redeemer and in 2011 was honoured to be a recipient of the Order of Niagara in recognition of her service. She was a member of the Alter Guild until 2016, a volunteer of Tele-Touch and canvassed for the Heart & Stroke society for over two decades.
A private service and family burial will take place, with her final resting place at the family cemetery joining her loving husband Ed, daughter Ardith and grandson Jamie.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to McMaster Children’s Hospital, or The Church of Our Saviour the Redeemer would be greatly appreciated by the family. Expressions of sympathy and sentiments may be made online at www.donaldvbrown.ca
Lona is well remembered for her kind and caring disposition,
never complaining, and quietly accepting both the sorrows and beauty of life.
