Obituary of Leslie James Smythe

Leslie James Smythe our very much loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather has passed after 97 years. Jim has gone to meet his wife Lillie, his son Larry, and his great grandson Zack. He was married for 50+ years to Lillie (Sharp) who passed in 2002, father to Diana (Bob), Larry, passed 2018 (Cheryl) and Nancy (Pat). Grandfather to Kelly (Brian), Kerri, Rob (Sharon), Jennifer, JJ, Kimberly (Brad), and Curtis. Great-Grandpa to Jocelyn (Jon), Zack, passed 2012, Victoria (Rob), Lillie, Ashley, Isabelle, Hailee, James, Piper, Kayleigh and Austin. Great-Great-Grandpa to Linkoln. Jim was a proud Canadian, born in Hamilton, the city he loved. He was a 50 year member of the REALTORS® Association Of Hamilton-Burlington, a veteran and member of the Veteran Service League for 76 years, a 60 year member Freemason Beach Lodge 639, and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, and a Stoney Creek Optimist member for 40 years. In his spare time he was an avid golfer. He very much enjoyed his life, his many friends. Our family loved, appreciated, cherished his love of family, and always caring attitude. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Friday, September 23, at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek from 11:30 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 1 p.m.  Private interment to follow. Celebration of Life to be held at Stoney Creek Optimist, 4:30-7:30 pm.
