Obituary of Marilyn “Marnie” Louise Flanagan

(nee Schnurr)

It is with profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of beautiful Marnie on August 6th, 2022.  Devoted wife of Tom for over 68 years. Predeceased by her dear parents, Charles and Mae Schnurr. Cherished sister of Larry (Sharon) and predeceased by her brother Chuck.

Loving Mom to 8 adoring children; Daniel, Douglas (predeceased), Catherine, Bradley (Kathy), MaryLynn (predeceased Al) Borondy, Joanne McLean, Laurie (Tom)Tippin, and Theresa (Tom) Mildenberger. Marnie’s heart was filled with love from her 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Survived by dear sisters-in-law, Rosalene (Mike) Rosicki, Kathleen (Gary) Kolbec and Madeleine Lampkin. Predeceased sisters-in-law, Bridget (Jim) Fletcher, Maureen (Ron) Bodden, Cecilia Davidson and Patricia Flanagan.

Marnie and Tom enjoyed a wonderful family life together. They travelled all over Canada and the USA, also enjoying their summer holidays in Burks Falls and Minden, Ontario.

Marnie retired from the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board as a member of the clerical team at St. Mary Catholic Secondary School. Marnie loved the world of learning. She was an avid card player, champion scrabble player, baseball fan and never missed her favourite tv show, Jeopardy.

Marnie was grateful for the wonderful family life she lived. She loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her husband and family. In her later years, Marnie was graced with the loving care from her daughter Joanne. Marnie is now in the arms of our Lord, resting in heaven with her parents, brother, son and grandson.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Stoney Creek. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arbour Creek Care Centre are appreciated. The compassion, care and kindness given to our Mom from the “angels” at Arbour Creek will never be forgotten.
