Obituary of Douglas Alexander Laxton

After a lifetime of creating wonderful memories for his family and friends, Doug passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in his 97th year. Doug will be missed by his beloved wife of 70 years, Joyce. Predeceased by his brothers Arnold (Audrey), Harold (the late Mary), John (the late Joyce) and Donald (Dorothy and the late Edith). Brother of Lois Hutchinson (the late Elmer). Brother-in-law of the late Pat (Bert) and the late Ernie (Judy). After a 10-year career at Westinghouse Hamilton, Doug shared his knowledge and experience as a teacher of electronics at Barton and Delta High Schools over the next 25 years. Doug was an avid golfer (Glendale Golf and Country Club) and enjoyed boating. He was a true gentleman and a faithful friend, who always had a funny story to share. Doug and Joyce travelled the world. They had the wonderful tradition of taking each of their 25 nieces and nephews on a special vacation trip, when they became teenagers. On this his final journey, Doug is not alone. He is accompanied by the love, admiration and gratitude of all those, whose lives he has touched. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service for family and friends is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the Church of the Nativity, 1831 King Street East, Hamilton. Interment will happen at a later date. The family would like to thank the paramedics and staff of the Juravinski Hospital and the Meadowlands Retirement Community for all of their kindness and support.
