Obituary of Marion Spencer

SPENCER, Doris “Marion” (nee Fletcher)

Marion was born on December 30, 1929 at the family farm on Fletcher’s Rd., during a blackout. She passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022, at the age of 92, with her son and daughter by her bedside. Loving wife of the late Jim Spencer (1995). Best Mom to Dwayne Spencer and his wife Lisa, and Pam Ostrosser and her husband Glenn. Cherished as forever fun Grandma to Tyler Spencer (Morgan Cooley), Lukas Spencer, Kaira Ostrosser (Nick Bates), Stephanie Ostrosser, and Great-Grandma to Hayden, Avery, Reid, Oliver and the late Nikolas. Predeceased by her brother Jerry. Lovingly remembered by several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and many lifelong friends. She loved you all! Marion was a proud graduate, 1951, of St. Joseph’s Nursing School. Marion was the nurse on the run everywhere we went. Always tending to anyone with an ache, scrape, sliver, or broken bone. Mom was a nurse at Participation House, Binbrook, since it opened in 1977. After retirement she spent the next 12 years as a volunteer. She loved her job and the residents at P.H. She was a dedicated member of Trinity United Church since a young child. Mom enjoyed camping with her family and her second family The Stoney Creek Redcoats. She enjoyed travelling with friends and making new friends on every trip. Marion was a recent resident at Amica Senior Lifestyle, Stoney Creek, where every day was a vacation. She enjoyed her new life, meeting new friends and not having to prepare meals. We are blessed to have many cherished memories of our dear mom, grandma, and friend who had a loving heart and kind soul. Thank you to the Nursing Team of F3 at Juravinski Hospital for their kindness and compassion. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek Friday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
