Obituary of Stanica Mrksic

(nee Krasulja) 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanica on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Hamilton General Hospital after a short battle with cancer at age of 92 years. Stanica was born to parents Janko and Sava Krasulja of village of Pjecanica former Yugoslavia on June 22, 1930. Predeceased by her husband Petar Mrksic.  Loving mother to Danica (Rade) Smoljanovic, Stojan (Dragana) Mrksic and Milan (Mike) (Kerry) Mrksic.  Proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren; Slobodan (Julie), Jovan (Fani), Nikola (Sandy) Smoljanovic, Milan, Janko (Gabrielle), Nikola Mrksic, Ana, Marko (Lauren) and Peter (Alyssa) Mrksic. Stanica had 6 great-grandchildren whom she adored, Zane, Jovan, Niko Smoljanovic, Maya, Whitney and Porter Mrksic. Survived by her sister Milka Radmilovic of Hamilton. She will be greatly missed by Kumovi, many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and former Yugoslavia. Stanica will join her three bothers Adam, Milan, Ljuban and sister Ljubica in heaven so may they embrace each other once again. Stanica enjoyed her flowers, gardening and walks in the park right till the very end. Her biggest joy was having family and friends over for special occasions and always loved when all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit.  Special thanks to the nurses at the General Hamilton Hospital (emergency staff) and six floor south staff for giving her great care during her short stay it was very much appreciated.   Visitation will take place at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Sunday, July 3, 2022 from 5 – 8 p.m.  Pomen at 7:30 p.m.  Funeral Service Monday, July 4, 2022, in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with the Very Reverend Father Djuro Samac officiating.  Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery.
