Shirlee was a valued member of the Wildlife Preservation Canada family, both as a board member and generous supporter for over 20 years. We are deeply saddened to read the news of Shirlee's passing. We have nice memories of time spent together years ago and remember how she always teased us about sending her all the way to Barrie to rescue a dog. I know she loved that dog very much - it was a great match for them both. Condolences to her family and may she rest in peace.

Our deepest condolences to the McEdwards / Monteith family. Shirlee will always be remembered as an accomplished baker. She loved making elaborate cakes and sweets of all kinds. However, one of her best, was one of the easiest recipes to make. Shirlee’s recipe for “Shortbread” has become our family tradition at Christmas. It simply creates the most mouth-watering and delicious shortbread you will ever taste. Shirlee would tell you the key to success was to make sure you use fine granular fruit sugar and very cold butter, mixing only until it “almost” forms a ball. Below is the recipe in Shirlee’s hand-writing. Try it you’ll love it!
