My sincere condolences to Ian's family. Ian was a great friend with the best sense of humor. I'll miss being by his side while heckling and pulling pranks on others. He was always a joker but serious when he had to be. I could always rely on him when I needed him. He was a true blue friend that helped me whenever I asked him. Never asked for anything in return. The world took a big loss when we lost him. I'll think about him and miss him always. R. I. P. Brother till we meet again.

I am so very sorry. What a terrible loss. Ian taught me how to throw a punch. Man that makes me smile. So many great memories of that field across from our old houses.

Though i have many, this one is my favourite memory of Ian: I was talking to a homeless lady / friend , ian suddenly came outside. He took both her hands in his and he looked her in the eye and gave her the most heartfelt apology that I've ever heard . He told her he was sorry for the way things went last time they saw each other . he didnt know what he said or did to make her upset but he didn't mean to and he wishes it didn't happen. and she's looking back and forth between us bewildered. finally when he finished his speech to her she looks at me and says " I don't know him".. she looks at him and said "it's okay because I don't remember you anyways" .. he hugged her and kissed her cheek
and told her to have a lovely day then he left us. After watching him go she says to me again" I really don't know who that was".. later ian and i were sitting at a stop light. I asked him how he knew her and what actually had happened. he looks over at me with this astonished expression and asked " what?? Seriously? you believed me? I was joking , I don't know her!"
I was stunned.
Absolutely love this guy.
Ian my friend , rest peacefully.

This is beautiful and so Ian. When Ian was 13 I was in Canada on vacation and he had collected empty pop bottles for money. He then went Downtown and bought cookies and gave them to the homeless. That was just Ian.❤

Our nephew and cousin, Ian, emigrated from Ireland to Canada as a little boy. His eyes just danced with mischief and oh, that smile just lit up a room! Ian was so generous by nature. Whatever he had he shared and always seemed to find someone whose need was greater than his own. Ian's sense of humour was priceless and the love he felt for family and friends he conveyed in those giant bear hugs. Ian,
the world is a duller place with your passing, but the night sky will gain a bright new shining star. We love you and will miss you. Our hearts are broken. Aunt Audrey, Stephen, Lesley, Erin, Kelly & Jamie, Matthew & Clare.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Ian wow the times we had. One of the most positive influences in my life when I was in over my head as his neighbour and landlord to some crazy kids. Ian was a man of respect shovelling elderly neighbours snow keeping peace of the craziness at my place and always with a positive spin. Going to miss you Ian! The world is a better place for you being in it!

Not long after we came to Canada, Ian befriended my brother and I, telling all the other kids we were his cousins from Ireland. That gesture was the start of a more than 40 year friendship. Although we didn't see alot of each other over the last years, when we did, we would just grin and pick up where we left off. We'll miss knowing he's out there.........RIP friend.

Bill, Maureen and family, it was with such sadness that I read of the loss of your dear Ian. I have very fond memories of Ian. The best way I could describe him was, a burst of sunshine on a cloudy day. Ian’s smile could charm and win over anyone. I’m sure he will be missed by many.
My Love to the family
