Obituary of Edith Gertrude Turner

(nee Allison)

Passed away peacefully on March 7, 2022 at 91 years of age at St. Peter's Hospital.  Edith was born in Tichborne, ON, to the late William and Gertrude Allison.  Edith was predeceased by her husband Jack Turner (2007) and her first husband Art Jackson (1963). Loving stepmother to Jim Turner (Diana) of Wiarton, Lynne Shipton (Roy) of Hagersville, Robert Turner (Pat) of Dundas, Sheila LaDuke (2013) (Paul) of Wiarton and Peter Turner (Nancy) of Binbrook. Survived by 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.  She was also predeceased by her brother Russell Allison and wife Jean, sister Reta Allison and sister Valerie Engle.  She is survived by her brother-in-law Greg Engle and was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Edith graduated from Kingston Business College in 1949 and worked in many hospitals over her career retiring as Executive Secretary at Chedoke Hospital in Hamilton, ON. Edith was a long time member of Pioneer Memorial United Church and was an active member of the UCW.  She enjoyed many years at the family cottage in Red Bay, ON.  Edith was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.  Special thanks to Dr. Paul Hart as well as the staff at St. Peter's Hospital for their outstanding care, support and compassion.  Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 2 - 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, ON.  A Memorial Service will take place in the Chapel on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:00 am.  Private interment to follow.  As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Peter's Hospital, Pioneer Memorial United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
