Obituary of Patrick Gallagher
April 8, 1956 – January 14, 2022
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness we announce the passing of our dearly loved brother Patrick. He is now reunited with his loving parents Irene and Claude Gallagher and wonderful grandparents Ignatius and Sophia Talaga. Patrick was the adored brother of Connie (Jaimie) Bennett, Terry (Marion), Dennis (Lisa), Shawn (Trish) and will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family members.
Patrick was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him for his kind heart, beautiful blue eyes, and his wonderful demeanor. He was in the Special Olympics twice for floor hockey and assistant coaching, an avid TiCat fan and season ticket holder, and member of the Cats Claws. He idolized his brothers and emulated their enthusiasm and love for sports, hockey, football, golf, etc. Patrick and his sister shared a special bond and his passing will leave an empty space. They enjoyed many special times together. He loved to sing and belonged to various choirs during his youth at school. He loved nature and his favourite dogs TJ and Bubi. Pat enjoyed the Macassa Adult Day Program and all of the wonderful staff, especially Vince. Though short lived, he was at the Willowgrove in Ancaster, and the staff and nurses were wonderful. He loved and enjoyed all of the traditional family holiday gatherings and his mom and Baba’s excellent and superb ethnic cooking all of his favourite dishes.
He lived his life fully excelling and overcoming challenges, determined to accomplish his goals and being a part of all he loved. As some people journey through life, they leave footprints of kindness and love, courage and compassion, joy and faith. When they are gone the trail they’ve left behind continues to inspire us. Patrick reflected that in his life to perfection. Heaven has gained a new angel.
Patrick showed resilience and courage during his long suffering, determined to get well after surgery complications at Juravinski Hospital. A special thank you to the various nurses and doctors and staff who showed Pat, his sister Connie and brother Terry, compassion and kindness during a long difficult time.
Cremation has taken place with a private family interment and Mass. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Patrick if desired to the Special Olympics Ontario or Hamilton SPCA. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
