With profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Dave Barham at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, January 3, 2022 in his 83rd year. He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Birnie) of 58 years, and four children Sharon (Bob) Garden, Tom (Patricia), Paul (Sarah) and April (Scott) Waddell. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Kyle, Jessica, Graham, Ethan, Olivia, Riley and Brady. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Mary Ellen and brothers Robert [2012] and Ken [1983]. A Memorial Service will be held for David on Saturday, April 30th at 1 p.m. at West Highland Baptist Church, 1605 Garth St, Hamilton, with light refreshments to follow. The Service will be live streamed, to watch please CLICK HERE. He retired from Dofasco in 1992 after 32 years of service. Dave was happiest spending time outdoors in the sunshine either at home or at the cottage, cycling with friends, swimming, painting and working on his extensive collection of model airplanes. He also enjoyed good food and extended family gatherings. We will miss his annual Christmas ornaments. He was a member of West Highland Baptist Church and enjoyed his time with the Men’s group. We are very grateful for the excellent care and support provided by the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Bayshore Home Care Solutions (special thanks to Nurse Mui), the Cancer Assistance Program, and Dr. Anne Woods and the palliative care team and staff on 7 Surgical ward at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Cancer Assistance Program, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Juravinski Cancer Centre, West Highland Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice.
