My deepest sympathy to Diane's family and friends. We have lost such a special person. Diane and I met before we began first grade at Salem School and she became my closest childhood friend that same day. We spent countless hours hanging out in Mr. Johnson's barn and in the pasture trying to ride an uncooperative old horse who would promptly dump us into thorny bushes or onto cow pies. At my house we played paper dolls (Betsy McCall and the Lennon sisters) and sneaked into my older brother's room to peak at the "literature" under his mattress. We laughed A LOT!! We even thought it was hilarious when she broke her wrist after I convinced her to join the track team and compete in the high jump. I love that Diane's memorial photo is lilacs. The two of us picked lilacs along Salem Street many times and took huge bunches to the hospital during my mother's illness. RIP Diane. Thanks for all the wonderful memories.
