Obituary of Richard (Dick) Vanderkooy

The Lord took him peacefully unto Himself, on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at St. Peter’s Hospital in his 84th year. Predeceased by his parents Gerrit and Teuntje, and by his siblings Sara, Margaret, Harry, Jane and Margaretha. Lovingly remembered by his brothers John (Judith) and Tony (Audrey). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Richard was a proficient chess player and at one time was Checkers Champion of Hamilton. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital for their excellent care. Friends and family will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. A private family service will follow.
