Mike made our clinic a better place to work. He was hard working, managed a variety of personalities with ease and made everyone feel better. This is heartbreaking on so many levels most of all to you his family. My deepest condolences to Darlene and family. He will always be remembered in a very positive way.

My condolences to Darlene and family.
We may not have kept in touch over the years, but the memories of all adventurous things Michael and I did, will never leave....from teaching my to ride the dirt bike, taking me fishing in Grandpa's row boat to trying to teach me to build a bonfire(which to this day, I still can't do), and so many other memories.
You'll be missed but never forgotten, RIP cousin.

Most people know that Mike was my stepfather. He wasn’t the man god chose to help create me, but he was the man god chose to raise me and love me unconditionally.
He used to proudly tell the story of how he came to live with us.
Each day after work he would stop by, ask to use the shower, strategically place his clothes in the laundry, and his toothbrush by the sink. In a nutshell, he essentially moved himself in little by little each day, and before we knew what had happened, we had less room in the closets, new furniture, and a live in chef!
The moment he met my mother he fell in love.
But for the first few years things were rough. Mike and my mom had many ups and downs as some couples do. And it was during this time that most people told him he should move on and be with someone younger, as my mother was 10 years his senior. But Mike refused. His love for my mother was a love like no other. It’s one of those special kinds of love that not all people get to experience. They were best friends, lovers and soulmates. There was nothing they didn’t know about each other, no secret they didn’t share, and they loved each other unconditionally.
My relationship with him in the beginning was rocky. I was a young girl who’s mother had been married twice before, and now fallen in love with a younger man. I thought they were doomed and I didn’t hesitate to tell him any chance I could. Mikes response was always,
“we’ll see about that”.
Every time I tried to push him away he fought harder to show me how much he loved me, would be there for me, and love me unconditionally. In fact, when he proposed to my mother he also proposed to me asking me to be his daughter. In the end he would proudly boast about how wrong I was and I was proud to say he was right!
When I had my first child I found myself raising him on my own. Mike stepped in and was like a father figure to my son. When I was pregnant he excitedly announced that he would teach the baby all the sports he could, and they would play and watch hockey together! And that’s exactly what he did.
Mike was an amazing grandfather. He loved both of his grandkids more than anyone can imagine. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. Day or night, rain or shine, sick or not, he gave all of himself each any everyday. And a love that was unconditional.
I could go on and on for days about how great of man he was. But everyone he met knows it. He left a mark everywhere he went and with everyone he met. He was a hard worker who loved his job. He was so proud to be doing the work he was in the hospital. He had a sense of pride for the work he did, and each time he was given praise at work he would come home with a brighter glow than before. His work gave him a purpose and passion he loved.
I will miss my dad more than words can describe. There is an empty place since he has been gone. Replaced with a list of things he will never get to do, experiences we will never have, and a sorrow so deep only the best of men leave behind. I wish he was given the chance to live on and I am heartbroken by his sudden and tragic passing. But I know how much my dad loved life and I know he would want me to live on loving life as he did. Finding the greatest of joys in the simplest of pleasures, smiling everyday, full of hope for the future, and with a passion for living.
After my dad passed his eyes were donated and if you know my dad at all you know he was basically blind. I know that is my dads sense of humour saying one last time to us,
“you guys made fun of my eyes, thick glasses and poor sight, but look at them now!”
I only pray that person enjoys seeing the world and all it’s beauty as my dad did.
Love you dad, may you Rest In Peace.
