Obituary of Margaret Anne Badeau
BADEAU, Margaret Anne (Murdoch)
Passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her parents James and Virginia Murdoch (Atkinson), her sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Charles Coughlan, her brother James Murdoch (Carol), and her beloved husband for over 60 years, Joseph Badeau. Devoted mother to Brad (Kathy) of Toronto, Maryanne (Gordon Henderson) of Oakville, Susan (Jim MacDonald) of Barrie and Cathie of Mississauga. Cherished grandmother to Michael (Bianca), Matthew and Andrew (Kimmy) Badeau, Laura (Matt Gnyp) and Brett (Helena) Henderson, and Sarah (Andrew McCullough), Rebecca and Christopher MacDonald. Loved and admired for her fearlessness, quick wit, and incredible sense of humour, ‘Grammie’ will be forever missed by her eight grandchildren. Margaret was also blessed with five great-grandchildren Millie Gnyp, Hannah and Holly McCullough and Jack and Liam Badeau, whom she adored. Margaret lived her life according to four simple tenets: live your faith, never forget to feed your mind, live each day to the fullest and family is everything. Margaret and Joseph were parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Parish for over 60 years. She was active in the Catholic Women’s League and St. Vincent DePaul, participated in many church events throughout the years and enjoyed good conversation and fun with friends during Friday night card games. Margaret loved to read, learn, garden, sew, knit, paint, engage in conversations about historical and current events, and travel. She and Joseph travelled extensively throughout the world during his retirement. Margaret relished her roles as mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nothing brought her greater pleasure than family gatherings at Easter, Christmas and birthdays. Our annual Badeau Family weekend at the cottage was always the highlight of her year, especially with the addition of her great grandchildren. Margaret and Joseph shared their home and lives with wonderful neighbours, both old and new. The family is most appreciative of their friendships and support throughout the years, especially Phyllis and the entire Paddock family. We would like to thank Dr. Sandy Buchman and the Palliative Care Team at North York General Hospital for their guidance and support during our mother’s journey. Due to the current Covid situation, a private family service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Stoney Creek on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. which will be livestreamed to the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home Facebook Page, and later on Friday will be available to view on the funeral home website. Interment to follow in Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery, Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Vincent De Paul Society. Donald V. Brown Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
