My family lived on Battlefield Dr., in Stoney Creek, back in the 1960's. The MacFarlane family, lived a few doors away, up the street. I do remember Betty, from those days, so long ago. She was always very soft spoken and welcoming, while in her home. My older sister, Brenda and I, were good friends with Betty's youngest daughter, Debbie. It goes unsaid that we spent countless hours in their home.
I recall that Betty worked at the Eames Dept. store, in downtown Hamilton, back then. From time to time, she would drop into a Laura Secord shop, and pick up scrumptious chocolate bars for us, on a week-end. This was my introduction to Frosted Mint chocolate bars. I still love them to this day. Fond memories, indeed.
To Bonnie and Debbie, I hope the memories of your lovely mother, will be your "Roses in December".
Very sincerely,
Michelle ( Kibsey ) Ransier
