Obituary of Anka Njegovan

August 26, 1931-April 19, 2021

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Anka Njegovan after a long, courageous struggle, finally at peace.  She was full of life, love and laughter and a strong, resilient woman until the very end.  Her greatest joy was her family.  Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, settled in Lika, Croatia with her mother Marija and her brother Milan at a very young age. Growing up Anka met the love of her life, her husband Dušan with whom she built her life there.  After World War II  her mother and brother rejoined her father in Canada.  Anka returned to her birth Country in 1991 and lived the rest of her years in Hamilton, Ontario alongside her family where they already made their lives one by one.  She will be sadly missed by her loving children Marija (late Pavle), Jovan (Jagoda), Rada (Panće) and Nikola (Marina), her nine beautiful grandchildren Kosana, Alexander, Dušan (Sneža), Dejan, Milena, Alek, Nikolina (Miki), Nataša (Alejandro), and Nenad. And seven sweet great-grandchildren that adored her so much; Danijel, Aleksandra, Nikolas, Natalija, Romeo, Senija and Ariana, her nephew Nik and his family as well as numerous friends, kumovi and extended family here in Canada and abroad. She will definitely be missed by her cousins in Europe; Borka, Nada and Dušan (Dujo). Anka loved people, she touched the hearts of everyone she knew with her warm smile and good heart. Predeceased by her husband Dušan, her brother Milan Bobić and her oldest daughter Zorka. Many thanks to all the staff at Emmanuel House for their care and compassion. Thank you also to Višnja and all the staff at Abington Court Retirement Home for their hospitality and to the LIHN, their nurses and the P.S.W's for their help. A private funeral service is being held at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, Stoney Creek, Ontario followed by interment in Woodland Cemetery. Online condolences and notes of sympathy may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
