Obituary of Slavko Knezevic
July 18, 1934 – April 3, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Slavko Knezevic. After a courageous battle, Slavko passed peacefully on Saturday April 3, 2021 with his family by his side. Beloved husband of 62 years to Nada Knezevic (nee Vesic). Loving and devoted father to Bozana Knezevic, George (Slavka) Knezevic, Gina (Ian) Graham, and Steven Knezevic. Proud deda of Jason (Brittny), Alec, Jordan, Lycia, Slavko, Melanie, Luka, Stefanie and Dimitri. Proud great-grandfather of Natalie and Brody. Dear brother of Milos and Koviljka and the late Jovica, Stojan, Jovanka, Savka and Brane.
Slavko was a powerful spirit that overcame many hardships and obstacles and accomplished much during his lifetime. He came to Canada as a young man from a small village in the former Jugoslavia after the second world war. Starting a modest life in Canada, he quickly built a successful business and family. He made an impact on many lives over the years, sponsoring others to come to Canada and always being there to help his family and friends. His heart was as large as his family and he always went above and beyond for everyone around him. His love for his family knew no bounds.
Slavko was a lifelong member of the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. His passion for soccer was instrumental in creating the Hamilton Serbian Soccer Team and establishing the Serbian Soccer Club through his generous donations, where he served as president for a number of years. Slavko was very well liked both professionally and personally and was active within the Serbian community. He will be greatly missed by many, including family and friends in Canada and abroad.
