It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Samih Sayej on March 20, 2021 at the Hamilton General Hospital, in his 83rd year. He passed peacefully into God's loving hands and welcomed by his beloved son Edward. Samih will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 56 years, Nazirah. Cherished father of Richard and Sarah Sayej, the late Edward Sayej, David and Patricia Sayej and Robert and Antonette Sayej. Dearest grandfather (Cido) of Alexandria, Joseph, Dylan, Anthony, Julia, Sofia, Luisa and Samih. He is predeceased by his parents, Issa and Jalileh, and his three brothers and four sisters. Survived by his sister Azizeh of California. Samih will be missed by his in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Samih and Nazirah immigrated from Jordan to Canada in 1966. Together they faced the many challenges of moving to a new country. Their deep love and dedication to one another helped them create a good life. Samih worked as a cabinetmaker and earned the respect of his colleagues for his skills and craftsmanship. They raised four boys of whose accomplishments Samih was so proud.
Samih will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his strong faith that sustained him through his entire life. He was most happy when he was surrounded by all his grandchildren.
