Obituary of Donald Bannerman Murray
After a long and well-lived life, Don passed away on March 15, 2021 in his 96th year. Beloved husband (1947-2012) of the late Frances Evelyn (nee Hyatt). Father to David (Judy), Joan Krochko, Bruce (Joan), Robert (Jasmine), Patricia Borsellino (Dave Prosser), Scott (Brandi). Grandfather to 17, great-grandfather to 8. Predeceased by sister Isabel. Survived by sister Dorothy and by loving companion Pat Simmons. A veteran of WW II, Don served overseas with the RCAF from 1943 until the end of hostilities in Europe. After returning to civilian life he established a long and successful career as a self-employed contractor and commission agent. He valued independence, practicality, curiosity, and life-long learning. A celebration of remembrance will be hosted when such gatherings are again deemed safe and appropriate. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, (Hamilton, Ontario), would be greatly appreciated.
