Obituary of Mary (May) Murakami
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary (May) at Arbour Creek Care Centre on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. May was born on September 6, 1934 in the County of Dumbarton, Scotland to parents Robert and Elizabeth McGregor. May grew up in Scotland where she worked as a secretary at a large refrigeration company. She immigrated to Canada in 1960 where she learned and applied her trade as a hairdresser in the Hamilton area. May proudly received her Canadian Citizenship in 1972. She enjoyed spending her spare time watching old cowboy movies and listening to classical music. May has a kind spirit and was always happy to share a joke and laugh with everyone she met. Anyone who visited May’s home would see her love of elephants with the many statues and figurines she collected throughout the years. She always enjoyed travelling and going back to Scotland to visit family and friends as often as possible. May is predeceased by her husband of 37 years Masayuki (Butch), her brother and sister in Scotland, brothers-in-law Toshio, Shigeo, Masaki, sisters-in-law Fujiye, Mitzi and Sueno. Survived by many nieces and nephews including June McGregor and Hazel Brown of Scotland. Special thank you to Dr. Rana and the dedicated staff and caregivers at Arbour Creek Care Centre. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
