Obituary of Arula Govender
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Arulanathan (Al) at the Juravinski Hospital on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in his 71st year with his sons by his side. Beloved husband of Premala (Pam) for 47 years. Cherished father of Sershen, Nadia (daughter-in-law) and Leren. Proud and devoted grandfather to Apollo and Jada. Arula leaves behind his brother, Selogan and sister Rogany and predeceased by his siblings, Devi, Saloshni and Vivek. Arula will also be sadly missed by Lynette, Veruschka, Phyllis, Daryn, Jaya and Shanti Sullaphen and many other relatives in Canada and South Africa. Arula was born in Durban, South Africa and moved his family to Canada in 1978 to pursue his career in Pharmacy. As a new immigrant, he worked very hard and was determined to make a better life for his family. Arula then went on to own many successful pharmacies (Pharmasave) in Stoney Creek, Hamilton and Barrie. Arula quickly became a well-respected pharmacist and his many customers became lifelong friends. Arula loved to travel and spend time with his family. His grandchildren were the loves of his life and he would do anything for them. Our family would like to express their gratitude and support to the ICU staff at Juravinski Hospital and St. Peters Hospital 4 East and a special thank you Arula’s doctors and dear friends Dr. S. Naidoo, Dr. M. Savatteri. Due to Covid 19 a celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Diabetes Association. Notes of sympathy and condolences may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
