It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Waltham on January 12, 2021 in her 87th year at The General. Reunited with her loving husband Raymond Waltham (2013), parents John and Gertrude Smith (88/89) and brother Jack (Nora) Smith (2017). Janet will be sadly missed by her son Alan (Jane), her niece and best friend Linda (Lyle) Saunders, her grandson Owen, step-grandchildren Rachel Tonaj and Brandon Tonaj, great-grandson Carson, nephews, Adam and Kurt Saunders, her niece Meagan (David) Shaw along with Tait, Rex and Gracie. Janet will be fondly missed by friends, Mary and Peggy, among many others.

Janet was a long-standing member of Grimsby and Glendale Golf & Curling Clubs. Janet was a volunteer with Boy Scouts of Canada and introduced the little Beavers to Ontario. Janet was an avid bid-euchre gal and was an active volunteer with the Rosedale, Stoney Creek and Winona Seniors Clubs where she played. Janet’s one vice was organizing and running trips to casinos. Janet was a devoted mother and hockey mom who loved to watch her son Alan play goaltender and continued her support watching her grandson Owen follow his love of goaltending.
