Dear Bernadette (my old work partner at the Spec). I was deeply saddened to read of Steve's passing & so very sorry that you have lost your devoted sidekick. You were such a team! I think of you often when I look at my little, wooden bear you gave me about 30 years ago which still sits on my kitchen window sill. I know you have a loving family to help you through these most challenging days. I will keep you in my thoughts.

My sincerest condolences to you on the passing of Steve. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
Don’t know if you remember me, but I think we started at The Spec about the same time.

Bernadette : I am deeply sorry for your loss. You made a very special couple and a remarkable 51 years together of which to be proud of and cherish. Although his physical presence is gone his spirit remains with you and all those lives he touched. He had his own special way of connecting with others using his wit, sense of humour, kindness and vitality. Please send my condolences to his family and friends as well. He was a remarkable man that impacted my life with his positive energy and kindness that he gave abundantly. Stay in touch and anything you need please ask as I am here for you. Love Joy and Chad

Bernadette, we have never met but I have known Steve for over 45 years. I worked in a bank on Ottawa street and Steve was a favourite customer. He was a regular fixture on Ottawa street working at a few places I believe. Over the years he brought in many treats from the two of you; cookies and platters of food at Christmas and sometimes just brought pizza for no reason. I’ve been retired for many years now but I’ll always remember his kindness. I always looked forward to the Christmas greeting that you put in the spectator each year from the two of you (and your dog). Please know that his kindness affected many people and he will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
