Steve and Family: Although belated, my sincere condolences on Madelene's passing. I know what it is to lose your spouse and best friend so I pray that you will know God's comfort in the days, months, and years ahead, and especially so during this time of year. I'm sure it will be a difficult time for all but be sure to talk about the happy memories and speak her name often. I appreciate her "craft" talent and still have my "Casino Cash Box" as a keepsake. Take care, Ivy Kielbasa
P.S. Steve - welcome to your new neighbourhood!

I was so very sad to hear that Mady had passed away. She was a bright light full of life , a sparkling smile and a zest for life especially on the ball field. She was a great competitor and I had the privilege of playing with her and against her. We had great fun and success as Sportaculars Canada and I have many memories of times on ball fields and in the restaurants after so Mady could get her steak' She was a great gal and very kind.
Steve, I can only imagine how much you must miss her but I trust you have many wonderful memories .
My deep sympathy to each of you...a real loss for everyone.

One of my all time favourite people, as the neighbours of Sherry, Niall, Keven and Kiera we spent lots of time with Mady. I was looking forward to being able to take her with me back to the Huntsman games in Utah and watching her slug another few home runs. She will be sorely missed on our Wednesday concert nights and we will all miss her stories.

My very first memory of Maddy is walking into her kitchen after school, shocked to find her whole kitchen full of Christmas crafts, reindeer, snowmen, angels and more! I can still see the glee in her eyes as she talked and shared with us what she was going to work on next. I remember seeing Sherry in highschool always with her tennis raquet in tow. When I asked Sherry about tennis, she shared that her and her mom play and often together. Before I knew it. I was in the blazer with team Sherry and Mady heading to the courts. Man! Could mady swing a raquet! A bubbly, fun wonderful lady, with the warmest smile is how I will remember Mady. A trail BLAZER no pun intended. On behalf of the Head Family our sincere condolences to all of you. May God grant you peace and comfort as you remember all our love. Carol Head

My condolences to the family. I have fond memories of my talks with Mady at family get togethers. Her smile lit up the room and her warmth and good will shone through. Sherry, thanks for sharing about the film, “Baseball Girls”. The essence of your mother’s being is highlighted extremely well in the film. The courage and determination of spirit shown by all of the women in this film was very inspiring. To the readers of this thread please check out the film for free at:

Steve and family,
Mady, you tried to teach me tennis and that didn't work. Then you tried to teach me baseball and that didn't work for me either but you continued to shine! My thing was 5 pin bowling. Maybe in another place and time I will teach you bowling.
With love Lorraine.

Mady has always been in our lives. Growing up, every spring and summer weekend we had an early morning visit from Mady bringing our family something we asked her to find for us on her journeys. She never failed to deliver. She was always so full of energy and excitement coming through the front door.
As an adult we looked forward to seeing her, Steve and her grandchildren at the Santa Claus parade every year.
Reading all these tributes it is so apparent how proud she was of her children and grandchildren, and that she would do anything for anyone.
She will be greatly missed by many. Our deepest condolences to you all.

For over 60 years our group was Mad, Mare, Di, Di and Ala, our card group, friends since high school years with time off having babies. Mad was always up for any new adventure. We shared countless card (and dice) games, lunches, Christmas outings, lots of laughs and yes, some sad moments.
You ask for a favorite Mad story and I have to go way back for this one. The first time I saw her was on the shoulders of a very tall boy and they were going along unscrewing streetlight bulbs. I was 15 and I thought, “She seems like an interesting, fun person.” (They did turn the bulbs back on.)
Our group is deeply saddened by her passing. We are missing her more than words can say. Our sincere condolences to Steve, her children and grandchildren.

Jane, Diane and I played baseball with Mady for what seems like forever. While Mady could easily and regularly hit homers the 3 of us mostly just hit singles...nevertheless Mady was encouraging telling us to “own that plate”. Always positive, quick with a story, an encouraging word or advice on where a “deal” could be found, Mady was kind and friendly to all, her love and devotion to her family undoubted. There was never someone she didn’t know wherever our baseball games or tournaments took us. And so typical of Mady when we finished as runner ups in the Provincials one year she made individualized plaques for each of us with our uniform number to remind us how proud she was of our efforts. Our heartfelt condolences to each of you in Mady’s family and a huge thank you for lending her to us for so many many years on the baseball diamond. We are so grateful our paths crossed. Mady will be deeply missed.

My forever friend of 73 years, we met in kindergarten and have been friends ever since. We shared the most special occasions from being her maid of honour to sharing in her kids wedding day. If a week a month or a year passed since we got together we instantly picked up where we left off. I will miss my friend dearly but my memories of her I will forever cherish.

One of my favorite memories was, auntie would go to country style pick up our favorite morning glory muffin, I would make a pot of coffee and we would just chat, we would talk about the family, her latest baseball adventures, how she made out at the last
Casino visit, it was nothing grand just spending time with each other. Since I moved I have missed those visits but I have my memories that mean even more now.
Love you Auntie you will be in my mind and heart forever

Mady was my friend for 62 years! Over these years she was always there to help me during difficult times and no matter what I needed she got it for me. I was able to spend a lot of time with Mady during the past eight months either here with me or via FaceTime. Mady was so proud of her husband, their family and their accomplishments.

To Steve and his beautiful family.
Our deepest Sympathies in the loss of a VERY special, funny and lovely Lady. Aunt Mady was teaching us how to do exercises for our arthritic fingers. We had to make a "box" shape with our fingers, and we then compared our "box" shape to each others box. Well, you can just imagine where it went from there! Laughter galore!!!
Go with God, Aunt Mady, and teach everyone you see, how to hit,
"The perfect home run!"
Forever in our hearts!
Love,
Judy & Brian
