Obituary of Roy Fortune

FORTUNE, Thomas "Roy"

It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our oldest brother Thomas “Roy” Fortune at the age of 71.

On Sunday, September 27, 2020 Roy gave up his valiant fight to be reunited with his loving parents Clare and Irene Fortune. Roy is survived by his siblings June Fortune, Darlene VanBeek (Joe), Donna Meldrum (Clyde) and Wayne Fortune (Karen).  As well as many nieces and nephews and friends. His dear cat companion “Baby”  who would keep Roy company for hours sitting on his lap, is truly missing him.

Roy was a dedicated and long standing employee at GT French Papers. He was very proud of his job one which he started at the age of 17 until his Retirement. Roy was an avid bowler and could be found at the bowling alley for Friday night leagues. He was always up for a good card game and cranking his favourite oldies tunes! As kids he could be heard belting out the words to Proud Mary.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU team at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton for their compassion and care given to Roy. A cremation has taken place and a small family service will be held in the coming week. If desired a memorial contribution to the Juravinski Hospital would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Roy will be laid to rest alongside his parents who now hold him tight!

"Love you with all our hearts “Big Brother"
