It is with sincerest condolences that I express my grief over Bernie's passing. Having worked with Bernie for a number of years at Stelco, I always considered her to be one of the classiest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She always had great style, a wise word, and warm laughter. Bernie was such a talented lady and an impeccable hostess. I am sorry that we lost touch over the years, however, I will always treasure the bond that we shared (although brief) and the memories of such a fine lady. May she rest in peace.

Dear Doug, Nancy & Families,
My deepest condolences to all of you. May your sweet memories bring you peace and comfort. I had a special card ready to mail to Bernie but received this sad news from Angie sooner than expected. As I travel down memory lane some of the most special moments in my life at Stelco were those daily lunch time excursions with Bernie in her vehicle I labelled the “747” Chrysler to the Centre Mall, The Brass Hut (cha-ching, cha-ching) and our hilarious Friday lunches at the Trocadero running through Payroll with our high heels “stilettos” to get back to our desk laughing all the way. The beautiful baby shower she had for me and Jordan She was truly a great friend! Life gets busy and the years pass but the memories of Bernie are still etched in my mind. Thank you for being part of my life you made it exciting your zest for life…your high energy and classiness impacted me. These memories I will hold in my heart forever! RIP Bernie until we meet again. With love and respect your friend Linda Paron. xoxo

My condolences to Doug and Lori and Nancy and Dave and their families. I'm glad Bernie got her wish to be at home and complete her life on her own terms and with her family.
I will always be grateful to Bernie for the love and happiness she gave my Dad. I can still see the two of them dancing together, doing home renovations together, laughing and enjoying life together. In Dad's last year, Bernie was a saint the way she'd spend her days at the hospital with him and then took such good care of him at home at the end. Their time together was too short but it was full of love and fun. Dad picked a good one when he picked Bernie! And thanks to Doug and Nancy for accepting him into their home and their lives and sharing their mother with him.
I lift a glass of wine to toast Bernie's memory. She was a strong woman. She was someone you could depend on. She had style, she had grace and she was a fantastic cook! Cheers!
Love, Leslie Wannop

I miss you so much already!
You have given me the most precious gift I could have ever received. My wonderful and loving husband and your wonderful son.
He took such good care of his mother and that is a true testament of how he treats me (and our beautiful girls) everyday. We are truly blessed and I am grateful every day for the man that you raised him to be.
Thank you Bernie.
