Almost 40 years ago, when I was doing my PhD in Waterloo, Judy invited me for a weekend at her home. And this is how met - and fell in love with - wonderful, warm and joyful Eve. My memories of that weekend are full of wonders of discovery - I still remember the taste of my first ever (and delicious) pierogi, learnt how to pick cherries (had never seen a cherry tree). Sunny days, warm welcome, feeling part of the family. Even if it had rained (it didn't - I have photos) I am sure I would still remember the weekend as sunny, thanks to Eve. She met my parents when they visited from Brazil; she skyped my mom. And for these almost 40 years, she sent me "hi"s and "hello"s and "love"s via Judy. Though we only met very few times, she made every time memorable. I cherish the memories of her wonderful 90th birthday party, where she was the youngest of all present (including the grandchildren).Thank you, my very dearest friend Judy, for having given me the long lasting joy of meeting Eve. And than you, my wonderful Canadian mother, for the friendship, the funny stories, the moments together. My heart feels warm every time I think of you.

Rick, Sharon, Diane, Judy, Sarah, Julie, and the rest of the Kovacs family. I am deeply sorry for the loss of your mother and grandmother. She was such a wonderful person and so kind and welcoming to me and my children. I have fond memories of spending time with her in her home and appreciated that time with her so much. She was very special to all who knew her and will be remembered. My sincere condolences. Colleen, Emily, and Andrew

Dear Diane, Mario & family:
Saddened to hear about loss of your cherished mom & grand/great grandmother Eva. Not only our friendship over the years but George growing up in Winona and going to school at Immaculate Heart of Mary brings back lasting memories of a small community that the Kovacs family were part of.
Our thoughts & prayers are with you today. You have lost a bright light in your family. Cherish your mother's memories.
Sincerely, George, Donna, Andre, Paula, Aaron & Marisa Gagnon.
