Obituary of John Caddy

CADDY, John

May 17, 1930 – February 2, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, John Caddy. Born in Redcar, Yorkshire, England, John made his home and life in Hamilton, Ontario. He passed away on February 2, peacefully, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Amalie Caddy, his loving wife of 34 years. Loved father of Sharon Caddy (Joe Thistel), Craig Caddy and his wife Donna , Ken Etherden and his wife Sheila William, and Gordon Etherden. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer and Kelli Hornick, Adam, Meagan, Amanda, Caitlin, Jaiden, Ashleigh, James and Sommer. The world is a far better place for his having been here. He made memories and friends everywhere he went. He will be forever remembered with love by his family and many friends and will be celebrated each time someone spends time enjoying the backyard garden he lovingly cultivated over the years. This summer the family will be planting his garden in his honour including his prized Black Russian tomatoes and selections from the seed catalogue he was so excited to shop from. Loving attention will also be paid to his much prized rose garden. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Thursday, February 6 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 1 p.m. In John’s memory, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
