Today we gathered together to honour the memory of my brother, Gary Oikawa and Jenni Misner's youngest child. Christina Lynne known to all of us as Crissy was a sunny joyful toddler. At four years of age, she was a willing helper at our family gatherings. She was always ready to remove our plates from the dining table or entertain even younger members of our family while we enjoyed a meal. To say she had challenges in life is an understatement. We will never know the pain Crissy suffered when she was diagnosed at a very young age with a brain tumour, surgery and treatment. Her spirit of resilience and good humour would continue throughout her life for the next four decades. Through her own suffering, Crissy became more compassionate towards the suffering of others and often came to the aid of a sick child , a relative or friend in need. Her generosity shone through as she found joy in treating others at Tim Hortons or buying gifts for younger children in our family. In her own way, Crissy tired to make her world a better place. As we look back on her time here, we know that it was well spent and the memory of her love and actions will live on in all of us. Rest in peace Crissy. We all love you and will miss you.
