My mother Edna Miller would like to send her condolences to Hope’s family. Hope was a great blessing to my mother. They’d phone each other and talk about the Lord and then have a prayer time, in the evening. Hope phoned Mum a few days before she died and a Mum will cherish that. Hope is finally seeing the Saviour she loved and served, what a wonderful thought!

A Tribute To An Amazing and True Woman Of God
Sometime this summer in June, or July, I thought of visiting Mrs. Hope James aka Mommy Hope to most of the Filipino community at Peoples Church. Pam, her goddaughter came along with me. When we arrived, she was sitting on her pink, soft chair. We introduced ourselves to her, and she recalled some of the Filipinos who once became part of her life by being a pioneer of a Filipino fellowship. She appreciated the flowers that we brought and literally walked to her chest of drawers, in order to smell and feel the flowers. Mommy Hope liked gardening and enjoyed beautiful flowers. During our visit, she shared how God had healed her in the past when she was diagnosed with tumor. God lengthened her years, because I believe that God was delighted to her, and God wanted to use her more for God's glory. We had a mini fellowship, and the presence of God was stirred up as we sing "Amazing Grace". She knew the lyrics more than Pam and I. We prayed fervently guided by the Holy Spirit. There was a laughter after uttering the prayers which include longer life. She said, "I want to go home". We mentioned that God is still using her to share the love of Jesus to others. Now, God granted her desire to be with God. Pam and I took pictures with her. It was a memorable visit after so many years of not seeing each other. God intended the visit to be before she passed her life on earth.
Mommy Hope helped establish a Bible study that later on became two separate churches, Jesus is Alive Community under the leadership of Pastor Rose Labid and Living Word under the leadership of Pastor Dan Magcalas at the time. The Filipino fellowship that Mommy Hope started flourished into bigger churches and helped equip people to become better Christians. These churches became channel of blessings especially to those who are unsaved and lost. People were added to the Kingdom of God. Due to the perseverance of Mommy Hope and her vision to enlarge her territory, the Filipino fellowship existed which at first held at her welcoming home in Millen Road Stoney Creek. I remember in 1990's when I attended the Christmas party and fellowship at her home full of Christmas decorations and food that she prepared for us. Her smile radiates to the surroundings with the love of Jesus burning from within. She was very accommodating to her visitors as if you are at your own home. She made an impact to our lives being new in the country without many friends in the beginning. Her commitment to God was phenomenal. She earned her rewards in heaven forever happy with her Creator who loved her dearly. Praise God for the life of Mrs. Hope James who became a vessel for the furtherance of God's Kingdom!
As for the James Family, let us celebrate her meaningful life. She is gone from her temporary residence on earth but now residing in the glorious mansion that is intended for her in heaven.
John 14:2 (NIV) My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you.
John 1:12 (NIV) Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.

My heartfelt condolences to Mommy Hopes family.
Mommy Hope you are like a mother to us, we the Filipino girls. With your encouragement and help we started our bible study, until such time we were able to have our own Filipino church; but you Mommy Hope did not stop there, every Christmas you and Daddy Dick invites us for a fellowship dinner in your place. And I, we treasured it. We Love you both.
The last time we visited you we read some bible passages and you did enjoyed it. Surely we will miss you. I will miss you.
Mommy you are such a wonderful, beautiful person. Thank you ever so much for all you’ve done for us..
I love you; We love you.

My fondest memories of Hope were created in her time at Heritage Green. I used to visit her good friend Bessie Pelkey and spend time visiting Hope as well. She was always so genuinely sincere and her love for the Lord could not be measured. I remember her telling me stories of years gone by and it was a real entertainment by times. My condolences to the family.

It's with deepest sympathy for my other mother who had to give up her fight for life, but she had been ready for some time now to meet her maker. She's dancing in the gardens of heaven and she can now enjoy the view.
My last visit with her was blessed, we sang a couple of songs together out of a very old hymnal that was my elder sister's (Etta) from our church growing up in Maine.
Mum knew the songs. I read some scripture as she enjoyed and dosed in and out, apologizing for it, but for the most part she would smile and nod her pretty head. I told her no worries rest as much as she needed to, she'd earned it.
Then I read to her from my Jesus Calling devotional book. We had a couple of hours that I will remember for the rest of my life, I wouldn't trade it.
I thank the Lord for my David's mom. I was blessed to enjoy talks about the Lord with her over the years. She was my second mom for the last 47 years when I married into the family.
Our family enjoyed her Ukrainian food and the family dinners around the table and all the laughter as David, Irma & Ian would reminisce with each other about their visits with their California family and out east family visits. I always loved watching David pick an apricot, apple, peach or pear from her smorgabord of fruit trees everytime we would pull into the driveway.
The stories never got old. What I would give for just one more of those dinner entertainments.
Rest in your heavenly mansion now Mum with the glorious flower gardens that you don't have to tend, love Georgia

Irma Joy and family. We send our condolences regarding the passing of your mother. We also send our congratulations upon her Promotion to Glory. Therefore, you have many reasons to be thankful, and can celebrate. You were blessed to have her in your lives for so long. Whenever I met her, she always had a loving smile on her face. My impression of her was that she loved her family very much and she was very proud of each one of them. I believe that she loved the Lord, loved life, and loved her family. How wonderful! We know that the days, months, and years ahead will be difficult as you miss her. We pray the Lord's comfort and peace as you look forward to being united with her once again in glorious Heaven.

Dearest Irma, Paul and Family
I know how hard it is to lose a mom and knowing that we will see them again and that they are no longer in pain is comforting, but still leaves us feeling empty. May this candle light the way for you until you are strong enough to walk on your own.
