James Stewart of Stoney Creek, Ontario, passed away on Friday, July 5th at the age of 65. Jim was born October 21, 1953 in Glasgow, Scotland to Alexander and Jessie Stewart. Jim was the middle of his two siblings, Sandra and Jessie. He grew up on the streets of Glasgow immigrating to Canada for a better life in 1965. Jim always had a love for music as he worked worldwide to progress the art of pipe bands and Scottish music, specifically bass and tenor music. He was a competitor, teacher, judge, mentor in addition to volunteering his time to the Niagara Hamilton Pipers’ Society for many years. With his love of music, Jim was able to travel the world not only to compete, but also to teach clinics where he became mentors to many students and always seemed to pick up friends. Survived by Jim is his wife of 37 years Julia (Julie) Stewart, his daughter Erin Stewart (Emil Taradys), mother Jessie Stewart, sister Sandra McGregor, sister Jessie Colbert (Joe) as well as his many nieces and nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his father Alexander Stewart. Thank you to the team at the Juravinski Hospital, specifically the entire team on F5, as well as Dr. Paul Andrus. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
