Obituary of John Krenos

KRENOS, John

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Janez on January 25, 2019 in his 79th year, at Juravinski Hospital. Born in Sotina Slovenia, a devoted husband of 53 years to Maria, loving father to David (Shelley) and Mark (Mindy).  Proud grandfather to Ethan, Karrlyn and Max. Pre-deceased by his parents Ivan and Maria, brother Karl, and nephew Adam. Survived by sister Mila, sister-in-law Hermina, and nephews Bevin, Paul and Robert, along with many extended family, friends, and neighbors in both Canada and Slovenia. Janez came to Canada in his early 20's and became a proud member of the Slovenia community. From digging hydro ditches and picking tobacco, he started his career as a Westinghouse electrician working on the Toronto subway infrastructure. While obtaining a Business and Management degree from McMaster, he was Supervisor then Manager at Tridon then Operations Manager at TRW before retiring after 22 years from Ball Packaging as Plant manager at locations in Hamilton, Burlington and Richmond BC.  Always a humble man, never forgetting where he came from, treating people with respect, selfless and concerned for his family to the end.  Old School. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 4:30 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory The Great Slovenian Church on Wednesday January 30, 2019 at 10 a.m.  Interment to follow at Our Lady of The Angels Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Gregory The Great Slovenian Church.
