Obituary of Anne Augusta Boettcher

BOETTCHER, Anne Augusta

After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Anne passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 7, 2019 at West Haldimand Hospital in her 90th year. Anne was predeceased by her husband Butch of 54 years. She is survived by her 4 sons and partners, Brian and Carlene, Daryl and Sharon, Murray and Charmaine, Colin and Tamara, and by her grandchildren, Jordan, Cassandra and Sean, Amanda and Kalvin and by her precious great-granddaughter Scarlett. She is also survived by her sister Clara and many nieces and nephews. Anne is predeceased by her sisters, Martha, Elizabeth and Agnes and her parents Peter and Marie Cornelis. Anne worked alongside Butch and was co-founder at their business Arco Iron and Fence Company. She served as a welder (one of the first certified female welders in the province), painter, shop foreman, bookkeeper and eventually President of the Company. Anne had a keen eye for business and later on enjoyed the complexities of being a landlord. She had a passion for always staying active and working extremely hard. She always managed to put the needs of her 4 sons before her own. Rising early to drive them to their morning hockey practices and in the evenings to all of their games or activities. Anne always made sure that her boys were the best dressed kids going to school. She took meticulous care of her lawn and flower gardens and never met a weed that she didn’t want to pull. It was not uncommon to find Anne working tirelessly in her yard from early morning until sunset. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a razor-sharp wit that you dare not test. Anne also had a passion for animals and loved her many pet dogs as well as being a huge Hamilton Tiger-Cat fan and a fan of Curling. Special thanks to Sarah Brunt, Dan and Colleen MacCormack, John and Joan Cameron and to Cathy Kay for your love and support in making Mom’s days that much brighter. A special thank you to Dr. Ayeni, Dr. Tuttle and to Dr. Woo for your excellent care over the last years. We would also like to thank Anne's two favorite Angels, Gianna and Loreen who worked very hard taking care of our mother's needs for the past 6 months. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. A private family service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca

“Mom, thank you for always being there for us, teaching us, listening to us, caring for us and forgiving us. You paved the way for us and we will have to work very hard each and everyday to reach the standard that you set. You were a wonderful and magnificent woman. Mom we are all talking proud.”
