Don was a great friend to the Rees family and as a small child growing up always stopped at the store for a visit or to pick something up for dad.
Don will greatly be missed and our prayers go out to the family.

My husband was a decorator over many years and great friends with Don and family at the store. We even had a shirt visit with Don at his cottage. We extend our sympathy to the family.

Dear Kathy and Richard, Karen and Greg, Greg Ripco, Rebecca & Liam, Jake, Ryan, and Erin, Sharon, and everyone else who mourns the loss of this remarkable man.
Don was my cousin and friend for 8 decades. So many happy memories flood into my mind of our times at 11 Arthur Avenue South, of some days at a cottage the family rented, travels with Don's father to paint stores in the Niagara Peninsula, visits to the paint stores on Main and Ottawa Streets and Wood's Furniture. We had some great battles "across the board" playing checkers at which Don was very good. We'll never forget the cousins' gatherings over the last 10 years at Don's cottage on Lake Erie and at Christmas in one another's homes.
Gloria's fondest memories are of those gatherings and Don's sense of humour cracking us all up without even the hint of a smile. She often had private time with him personally or on the phone when they would discuss many things of interest to both of them. His passing has left a huge hole in her heart.
Don is gone from our presence but not from our thoughts and memories.
May all those happy memories cheer our souls at this time of sorrow and in the future.
Ken and Gloria Shoesmith

Dear Karen and Kathy and Families,
I am so very sorry for your heart breaking loss of father and grandfather. Don was the definition of a gentleman and friend; I will miss my cousin. I will remember so many little things about Don; his wit, his kindness, his great sense of humour and his deep chuckle. He was like a big brother to me. My thoughts are with you all.
Love
Jackie Hildreth
