Obituary of Vojka Jovanovic

JOVANOVIC, Vojka (October 21, 1948 - October 26, 2018)

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our darling Vojka at the age of 70. Devoted wife of 43 years of Slobodan (Stan) and cherished mother of Natasa. Dear daughter of the late Krsto and Katica, treasured niece of the late Danica, loving sister of Djoko, the late Milan, Dragan, Zora and Ljilja. Survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in Canada, Montenegro and Serbia. Vojka was the most generous of hearts who brought smiles, love and laughter to every life she touched. Affectionately known as "Mama Vojka" to the countless number of students, faculty and visitors to the Centro Commons Building, she was a very proud employee of McMaster University Hospitality Services for 41 years. One of her biggest joys was cheering on and supporting her beloved McMaster Marauders football team! Vojka was also a longstanding member of the Kolo of Srpskih Sestara Mala Gospojina at St. Nicholas Church on Barton Street. Visitation will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, October 30th from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Wednesday, October 31st from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Pomen will take place both days at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, 1415 Barton St E., Hamilton with Rev. Vojislav Pavlovic, Rev. Stevo Stojisavljevic and Rev. Lazar Vukojev. Online condolences may be sent to www.donaldvbrown.ca. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, 600 Spring Gardens Rd, Burlington. A very special thank you to Dr. Alsunbul and the 7 West staff at Hamilton General Hospital and Dr. Hattersley, Dr. Shadd and the entire staff at St. Peter's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Vojka's memory to St. Nicholas Church,1415 Barton St E. Hamilton ON L8H 2W6. In-person donations will be accepted during visitation and at the church.
