Obituary of Thomas Keating O'Brien
O’BRIEN, Thomas (Tommy) Keating
After a brief illness, it is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Tommy O’Brien on October 25, 2018, at the age of 60. Tom was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Kathleen O’Brien. He will be greatly missed by his siblings Eileen (Kelly) Colleen (Sid) and John (Mary) and the late Patricia. He was a brother who you could always count on to be there and remind you how lucky we are to have the best family there is. "Uncle Tommy" was always the fun one and a very special uncle to his 7 nieces and nephews: Kristina, Jenell, Jonathan, Andrew, Joseph, Jacob and Zoe whom he worshipped and always took a very active interest in their pursuits and hobbies. Tommy loved all types of sports and especially enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, the Tiger Cats, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Lions. He even named his much loved cat Hawk. He never missed a chance to watch a Little League T-Ball game, Junior football game or the McMaster and York University football games when his nieces and nephews were playing. He loved fishing, a great party, drinking beer, spending time with his family and friends and being the best listener to anyone with a story to share. Tom was a graduate of Bishop Ryan High School and excelled in their football program. He was a very proud 15 year employee of Convoy Supply Ltd in Stoney Creek and especially loved all his colleagues whom he worked with and was happiest while driving his truck. The family is extremely grateful for all the support the company has given to Tom over the past years. He will be sadly missed by so many friends in Hamilton and family across Ireland and Scotland. His past trip to Scotland and recent family trip to Ireland in July was some of his best times and are now especially treasured memories for our family here and abroad. Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Sunday, October 28th from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, October 29th at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be made at www.donaldvbrown.ca
Tom lived life to the fullest on his own easy going terms. He was always one for a good time and a cold beer – he will never be forgotten and always will be in our hearts.
