Larry & Lorraine, I was sad to learn from Marilyn of Blaine's death. Even though he & are are both 77, I remember him so well. I'd recognize him, in a minute, from his photo. He looks just like he did when we were teenagers ( although I imagine his red hair might have lost a bit of its bright color ). Blaine was my first love. Do you remember, Lorraine, when you and someone from my Tapleytown School would deliver love letters that Blaine & I wrote to each other, back when we were 11 years old ? You 7th & 8th graders were picked up by bus, once a week, to go to Shop & Home Ec at Mtn. View School. One week, some girls decided to share one of our letters while riding that bus. I was so embarrassed ! Blaine & I would hold hands at the Friday Night Movies put on by the Tapleytown men's Club. Our mothers worked together at Pinty's Poultry on Hwy #20 and became good friends. You guys could share all your secrets with your much-younger parents, but I did not. I'll never forget one Sunday family supper when several of my older siblings and families were at our farm. In the middle of the meal, my mom suddenly announced from her new friend at work had informed her that the friend's son, Blaine, has a girlfriend named Sharon Gilman. Now, the whole world knew ! Our romance, unfortunately, didn't last, but Blaine & I remained good friends well into our teens. He always seemed to look out for me, and I've never forgotten him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sharon, Napa, California

We are so saddened by the loss of a terrific man we had the honour to call Uncle. It was always great to see Uncle Blaine and catch up on the family news. His humour was said “straight-faced” followed with that giggled “whaaaat??” while he waited for our reaction. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you Ron, Brian, Dennis and all of your families. You’re dad was a wonderful man who was so proud of all your accomplishments.
