POHORESKI, Mary
On Monday, August 6, 2018 suddenly passed away in her 89th year. Survived by husband Anton Pohoreski, stepchildren Donna Paskaruk and Orest Pohoreski (Lesia), step-grandchildren Michael (Jamie), Natalie and Christopher Paskaruk, Larissa, Katrusia and Christina Pohoreski, step great-grandchildren Ava and Aiden Paskaruk. Predeceased by her parents Dmytro and Anna Shuwera, sister Pauline Boychuk and brother Dan Shuwera. Mary was a long-time employee of the Ministry of Agriculture (Vineland). She was very involved in the Ukrainian community in CYMK, as the former director and teacher at William Sarchuk Ukrainian School in Hamilton and Ukrainian School in Grimsby, former secretary of the Hamilton UWAC Lesia Ukrainka branch, Hamilton Ukrainian Canadian Congress and former treasurer of the National UWAC. Visitation on Thursday, August 9th at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with Panachyda Service at 7 p.m. Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 10th from St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 855 Barton St E (at Gage) Hamilton, Rev. Lubomyr Hluchaniuk officiating. Interment at Mountview Gardens Cemetery, 735 Highway #8 (at Jones Rd) Stoney Creek. Many thanks to the staff at Clarion Nursing Home for their care over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in Mary’s memory to St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. Vichnaya Pamyat.
