Obituary of Henry Wilfrid Poirier

POIRIER, Henry Wilfrid

It is with profound sadness and fond memories, the family announces the passing of Henry in his 87th year on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Juravinski Hospital.  Predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend Azilda (nee Michaud).  Cherished father of Suzanne (Garnet), Carmen (Bill) and John (Cindy).  Adored Grandfather to Liezanne (Guy), Michelle (Bryan), Sarah (Johnny), John (Max), Breanne (Aaron), Ashley (Kyle), Nicole (Sydney).  Proud Great-Grandfather to Paige, Gaetano, Megan, Alyssa, Natalie, Lauren, Liam, Joshua, Nathan, Landon and Harrison.  Henry was the son of the late Wilfrid and Alice Poirier (nee Quenneville).  Henry was one of 10 children and is predeceased by siblings Bruno (Eileen), Ernie (late Marie), Rolly (Viola), Eddy (late Val), Romeo (late Shirley), Gerry (late Liliane) and Therese Doiron (Moe).  Survived by loving sister Lucie DelGuidice (late Jos) and much loved brother Eugene (Lucille).   Henry will also be missed by his brother-in-law Wilson Michaud (Audrey) and sister-in-law Delores Michaud.  Sadly, missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.  Henry was a devoted family man with a unique sense of humour.  He will be remembered for his love and support of his family and his kind and caring nature.  Special thanks to the staff at Macassa Lodge for their respectful, kind and compassionate care, in particular the Angels in A2.  Relatives and friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, June 8th from 10-11 a.m. followed by a Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m.  Cremation to follow.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
