I was a student of Madame Kane's at Queen Mary school. She was an absolutely amazing women who took all the time & energy in the world to help her students... even if they didn't want to help themselves. I am sure I am not the only person who carried some of her lessons beyond middle school. She was an Angel long before now and the world needs many more people like her. My heart goes out to her family and Loved ones - This is a loss that will be felt by so many.

I am so sorry to hear about Heather. My name is Alicia Cameron and Heather taught me when I was a student at Queen Mary. Her and I always had a very close relationship. She was a wonderful person, so warm and loving. I’m not sure if you know this, but when I graduated high school, Heather actually came to my graduation and gave me a donation towards my university education at McMaster. I’ll never forget her. I’m away with my children out of the country and just saw online that she had passed, or else I would have attended the service. Please know that I’m sending healing thoughts to your family. She spoke of you all often, especially her profound love for her parents.

Heather was a wonderful woman. She was my french and art teacher back in Queen Mary for 4 years. She is the reason i fell in love with Art. And I am pursuing it as a career. I never got a chance to thank her. I will never forget her kind heart. Her loving personailty. I was bullied a lot as a kid and she was always by my side. I can never thank her enough for everything she did for me. This is truly heartbreaking. I am so sorry for the loss of this great woman!

Because of you and your kindness I have grown into a successful adult. You saw the good inside me when nobody else did. You went to bat for me, advocating for a kid that most called a bad kid. You saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. I’m sure I am not the only person who has been positively influenced by you. May you rest in paradise xo

It is so heartbreaking to hear of Heather's passing. Heather and I met on January 31, 2014 at St. Joes... the day of her initial surgery. We bonded over the next 3 days as roommates and continued to share stories, fears, joys and laughs with a few visits and then through messaging. She told me time and time again how much she valued her family and of course all of "her kids" at school.
I will always remember Heather as she made inpact on my life's journey. She was so energetic and full of life and I was in awe of all of her travelling and photos. Heather also introduced me to yoga/meditation. It is so very sad, that such a kind soul has left us so early in life.
I truly BELIEVE that she has gone to a better place (and Heather, if you are seeing this, you and I know exactly what "BELIEVE" means to both of us).
Forever in my heart and memory <3

Hello, I was a student of Mlle Kane from 2001-2004 at Queen Mary and she was one of my favourite teachers. I remember her fondly being so passionate about teaching, a kind soul, and very empathetic towards me as a student. We both shared the same name and had braces the same time and we bonded over that. Years later we met again when I was arranging a placement as a student teacher and having a visit and I remember walking home and her rolling down the window of her car saying to me "Heather, you will be a great teacher, I just know it". She believed in me that whole time. She will be greatly missed by both the Queen Mary and Billy Green community.
